If you are, we, The Churches of Burnt Factory and Greenwood United Methodist Churches have combined our Youth Groups and are waiting for you to give us a call, e-mail us, or visit our web sites and then come visit us.
The Youth Director will be:
A person that has a strong vibrant walk with Christ, a heart for reaching youth and seeing them grow in faith.
A team player with the confidence and ability to lead youth, parents, and volunteer team members, and a self-motivated energetic person with a “go-for-it” mentality.
Specific Responsibilities are: Youth Minister:
Will report to the pastor’s for spiritual and programming guidance and supervision.
Will operate with considerable independence within the youth program being responsible and subject to United Methodist policy and doctrine, informed by the Guidelines for Youth Ministries, local church policies as determined by the Charge Conference, Pastor, and joint Personnel Committee. Attendance at the following meetings is expected: Staff, Joint Personnel, Church Council, and others as needed. (Youth defined as middle and high school age, students in 6-8 and 9-12.) ---Possibly 5th grade as well.
To love youth ‘where they are’. Including those not in the “Youth Group”
To be spiritually grounded and display a Christian attitude and spirit of cooperation.
To build and implement spiritually based training through Sunday worship, Bible study, discussions, mentoring, and other small groups that encourages them in developing their relationship to God and provides opportunities for nurture and growth.
To plan, coordinate, and execute youth activities, which may include, but no limited to: growth and ministry opportunities (retreats, summer camps, mission trips, service projects…)
To help the congregation be aware of hopes, concerns, and needs of youth in the community and congregation. This would include, but not be limited to: preparing or overseeing a quarterly youth newsletter, placing updates and youth news in the church bulletins, and providing information to the web site coordinator.
To encourage inclusion of our youth in the mission, goals, and decision making committees of the church. To challenge youth to respond to God’s call to serve.
To develop and present training for adult volunteers. Organize parents and congregation members in youth ministry support activities. And oversee and aid in the development of the youth budget.
To maintain records of youth participation.
To communicate with youth on a regular basis using messaging/ media sources available.
To provide conflict management guidance in consultation with pastors.
To counsel and mentor youth. To be available when possible for any emergency situation.
To adhere to policies and procedures set forth in the personnel policy.
Connect the youth ministry to the larger church family by increasing attendance and involvement in weekend services.
